— The beat goes on for Janesville Craig's softball team.

The Cougars won their fourth straight Tuesday with a 3-0 Big Eight Conference win over Madison La Follette at Dawson Ball Field.

Bailie Whittaker and Paige Weber combined on a four-hitter as the Cougars improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big Eight.

"I'm totally ecstatic with our pitching thus far," Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. "We struck out 10 today, and I can't tell you the last time we did that in a game.

"Our offense has to pick it up a little bit, but I've got no complaints as far as our pitching."

Craig got the only runs it needed with two in the bottom of the second. Kelly Moench drove in Lindsey Oliver with the first run on RBI single, and Whitney Oliver scored on Erica Mortensen's sacrifice fly.

The Cougars picked up an unearned run in the third to make it 3-0.

Craig will host Middleton this afternoon at Dawson Ball Field.

"We haven't beaten Middleton in two years," Bayreuther said. "But I like the way we're playing right now. Hopefully, we can keep it up."
