— The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a white male who it says offered an 11-year-old boy a ride home.

At about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, an older adult male in a gray vehicle stopped his car and asked the boy if he wanted a ride home, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The boy had been dropped off by the school bus about two blocks from his home in Rock Township near Afton.

The boy declined, and the car left, traveling west on West Plymouth Church Road.

The man is described as being in his mid-40s, with gray hair, a gray goatee, eyeglasses and a thin build. The driver was wearing a gray or red long-sleeved shirt.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to find a car matching that description.

Deputies also interviewed two registered sex offenders who lived in the area. They did not match the description of the subject.

According to the news release, there is no evidence to suggest the driver was trying to get the child to get into the vehicle against his will. However, the sheriff’s office would like to speak to the person involved in the incident.

If anyone has any information regarding the incident, contact the Rock County Communications Center at (608) 757-2244.
