— Investigators have arrested a Racine man in a burglary ring suspected of targeting four counties in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Gene A. Podella, 21, Racine, was arrested April 8 on charges of party to burglary and party to theft, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

Podella is scheduled to appear in Rock County Court on May 10.

The burglaries started in February and continued through March, according to the sheriff’s office. Flat-screen televisions, computers, tools, guns and all-terrain vehicles were among items stolen.

Investigators discovered that the burglaries in Rock County were tied to others in Walworth County, Boone County, Ill., and McHenry County, Ill., according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives developed suspects and began following them earlier this month, according to the sheriff’s office. A search of a home in Sharon led to the recovery of several stolen items.

The case remains under investigation.
