WCLO's Steve Benton reports on how the U-W Rock County campus is doing in a statewide initiative to be be more sensitive to diversity

RSS

— The U-W Rock County is moving into the next phase of a system-wide effort to improve the quality of the campus environment for all students, staff, and faculty.

The program is called "Inclusive Excellence" and calls for a greater sensitivity to diversity.

12% of students on the U-W Rock County campus are persons of color, according to Assistant Dean of Student Services, Kristin Fillhouer. She says by making sure all students are included in the campus experience, they'll become "responsible, ethical, and engaged citizens."

The U-W Rock County campus finished the first phase of the initiative recently and are now assessing that data.

At some point, feedback groups will be formed and used as tools for updating each campus program using what Fillhouer described as equity scorecards.
