Victim, suspect named in Beloit homicide

BELOIT — Police have named both the victim and the suspect in a Monday morning homicide.

At 7:30 a.m., police responded to an apartment building at 920 Park Ave. There they found Darrellwar Tillman, a 19-year-old resident of the apartment, who was not breathing. Authorities attempted to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful.

An autopsy is planned.

Jeremy Alexander Leavy-Carter, 20, of the same address, was taken into police custody in connection with the incident.

Beloit Police Capt. Bill Tyler said the building is the same one where police conducted a drug raid last week, but Tyler said he doesn't think the bust and homicide are related.

The investigation is continuing.
