Tolzien Big Ten Offensive Player of Week
MADISON University of Wisconsin junior quarterback Scott Tolzien was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s win over Michigan State.
Tolzien completed 19-of-31 passes for 243 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes in Wisconsin’s 38-30 win over MSU. That is the 10th time in school history a UW quarterback has thrown at least four touchdown passes in a game. The last to do so was John Stocco vs. Minnesota on Oct. 14, 2006.
Tolzien leads the Big Ten and ranks 13th in the country in passing efficiency at 164.3. In four games, he has completed 66-of-99 passes for 884 yards and eight touchdowns against just two interceptions.
The last Wisconsin player to earn Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors was David Gilreath on Nov. 10, 2008.
Last week, UW’s Chris Borland earned the Big Ten’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
