Ryan McDonald kept Verona High School tied for first place in the Big Eight football Friday night.

McDonald rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns, and he ran a kickoff back 75 yards for a touchdown to lead the Wildcats (4-1) to a 48-35 win over visiting Madison East (1-4).

Verona jumped out to a 20-0 lead thanks to a potent rushing attack.

The Wildcats finished with 343 yards on the ground.

East quarterback Drew McAdams threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns.

Lechein Neblitt caught four touchdown passes of 23, 11, 35 and 54 yards from Moss. Neblitt had eight receptions overall for 171 yards.

The win kept Memorial (4-1) in a first-place tie with Verona and Middleton.
