WALCO budget moves to board of supervisors

— The 2010 Walworth County budget proceeds to a vote by the full county board in October after the finance committee Thursday unanimously approved the budget draft with few amendments.

Amendments rejected by the committee include:

-- Reducing funding for the Walworth County Visitors Bureau by $20,000.

-- Reducing funding for the Walworth County Economic Development Alliance by $70,000.

-- Increasing funding for sheriff’s office retirement benefits by $70,000.

-- Removing a $40,275 project to stream video footage of county board meetings on the Internet.

The county board is scheduled to decide on the 2010 budget at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the county government building, 100 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn.
