— Fifty-three staff members from seven Rock County agencies converged on a 54-unit apartment complex at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday in an attempt to serve search warrants related to drug activity in the building, a Beloit Police Department news release said.

The Beloit Police Drug and Gang Unit has investigated the building at 920 Park Ave. for several months after becoming aware of increased activity in the building in the last couple years, the release said.

To date this year, police recorded more than 100 different types of calls for service at this building, the release said.

Specific arrest information may be released later today as the investigation continues.

So which/how many apartments were raided? No way they got the OK to just search every residence in the unit.

Like you? Im not the one calling people names on here? I stated taht I think the officer for Craig High School was a crappy officer! You attacked me. I do not want to be a cop - I think for the most part JPD has awsome officers - just not craig! I am a stay at home mom with an at home business - that gives me the right to want to make my street safe - that means without Craig students selling drugs, smoking or just yelling the "f word" for what seems to be the fun of it. So "grow up" trust me I have! you on the other hand......

grow up... if you think you can do so much better... go to school, get a degree, and apply to be one of Janesville's finest. Good luck with that process. My guess is you will still be sitting behind your computer talking crap!

You spell checking me is supposed to bother me???? Nice try. He was hired to do his job NOT turn his head when pot is being sold less than 100 from the school. And he has NEVER told any of the kids anywhere near my house to pick up their trash that they threw on the ground. NEVER has he told them not to smoke. Last I checked under 18 year old KIDS are not allowed by law to smoke.
He walks around to make the parents who dont really care THINK that he is doing something. I am NOT the only person who thinks this about him so untill you know who Im dealing with do not try to tell me how to act with anyone.

Facebooker09/ try to spell check and maybe your grammar should be checked too. - HE is annoing (ANNOYING) and disrepectfull (DISRESPECTFUL). He only walks around when HE wants to not when parents want him too. Craigs (CRAIG’S) princaple (PRINCIPAL) has done more for the familys (FAMILIES) on my street that (THAN) the cop has so don’t (DON’T) lecture me on how I am. I deal with him to better my life and my kids - he didn’t (DON’T) give a hoot what I needed.

You're trying to better your life and the life of your kids... Your first step is respect. Respect is EARNED not GIVEN. Enough said, enjoy your life

Yeah right - Im immature and disrespectfull - Well when I called 4 times with in one month of school last year to report drug issues in front of my house and 3 times he never called back and once when he actually answered he basically told me that If it bothered me to not notice it. I called JPD a few times after than and they alwas sent an officer out, it may have been late but one came. Now when Im outside and the school officer walks past he always makes a comment about kids acting like I want them to. HE is annoing and disrepectfull. He only walks around when HE wants to not when parents want him too. Craigs princaple has done more for the familys on my street that the cop has so dont lecture me on how I am. I deal with him to better my life and my kids - he didnt give a hoot what I needed.

*** ALSO, the race card is pathetic. Stop trying to use that as an excuse. Regardless if you're black, white, asian, hispanic, bi-racial, orange, purple or green... You do the crime you will be arrested...

Facebooker09 - again have RESPECT for law enforcement, someday you might need help and he will be the one to provide that to you regardless of disrespectful and immature you might be.

boosmaker - They have that type of equiptment for the shots fired so they have an idea of what they are up against. Apparently you didn't pay good enough attention to the news when they were showing it. It is a REAL PLAYBACK of what just occured. It even says what direction of travel and speed a shooter is leaving (if shots are fired from a car). As for the taser, ya know what... they need them. Bottom line, its part of their equiptment. Maybe you just shouldn't speak if you if you do not appreciate officers. You obviously have NO RESPECT for the guys and girls who are SERVING your COMMUNITY to try to keep it safe. I think they are doing great with what they are given.

Cutebutnameless what happened to the old school cops who got things done? Police these days rely on tasers and systems to tell them where shots were fired so they can drive down the next block up so they don't have a confrontation. One thing cops do not have these days is real world experience. "hey, you have an associated degree, and your an only child, your hired. By the way heres your taser and look for the black people."

And not all of the people are new to it. I had a friend live there for a while because she didnt have money for anywhere else and she moved as soon as she could because of the stuff that goes down there.
And you say "do you notice there is no yard" Yeah but that dosent give the parents there the right to let their kids play in the street. I had to call JPD one day because a kid wearing only a diaper was walking in the street. NO ADULTS were outside. Then When I got out of the car and walked over to that area a lady ran out screaming at the kid who I might add was maybe 4 if that old to get on the porch then she went back in the building once he was.

I know 5 people who can see this building from their front windows and 2 of them have worked with jpd cleaning up this area. Maybe the people you know dont do drugs but there are still some that do.

How about checking into the big green apartment complex on the corner of S. Academy and Court St ? or some of the houses in the 100 and 200 blocks of S. Academy ? There is lots of drug acitvity and the police are there all the time? Shut some of these slum landlords down so the people (?) they rent to will quit terrorizing the neighborhood...

BOOSMAKER - Good for you and your scanner... You still don't know JACK about the activies in Beloit, futher more, a 21 year old officer that SUCKS... YOU SUCK!... Try to to their job for a day, I bet you're at home changing your undies after 10 minutes... The officers in Beloit do a great job everyday, every shift, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!! I think you need to take back your worthless comment about the "21 year old cops suck" until you have lived a day in their shoes, because I am positive you have not!

facebook the building on high and mckinley has new tenants and the others have moved down the block abit. just because people hang on the porch don't make it a dope house.. If you haven't noticed there is no yard for that building and six 3+ bedroom apts. means larger families..... I do know 4 of the families that live there and the don't deal, so judge another residence!!!!!!

It is a pretty dumb comment. Obviously this was the result of long investigation and cooperation by several agencies (in fact, the news blog article had more info).

As I've pointed out in the past I live in the Fourth Ward and I see -- literally outside my front door, unfortunately -- drug deals taking place almost daily (three before dinner today). The threat of violence is never far either. I don't see how Beloit is in a significantly worse situation as far as overall crime, and statistics do show that both cities have similar crime rates -- the only difference being that Janesville is tilted more toward property crime, and Beloit has more violent crime such as gang-related shootings. But drugs are rampant in both communities if you know where to look, so acting high-and-mighty is pretty silly.

Beloit has focused more money to get people to come to beloit than regulating the population through the police depatment. How many shootings have there been this year? AND I have a scanner programed to pick up everything thats not in the papers. Beloit has so many great activities geared toward the middle and upper middle class and they are forgetting to deal with the increasingly growing lower class pertaining to the high unemployment rate. Beloit is a great community and I will be here for life but the 21 year old cops suck.

what are u talking about lost_city? it is now picking on drug dealers when they are arrested? do u think that drug dealers in janesville dont get investigated? what about all the heroin dealers that are getting busted or the big marijuana bust over the summer? i hope there are more stings lined up in both towns, we all know they need it. props to the drug and gang task force for taking the garbage out.
