WCLO's Steve Benton reports on a DOT safety project in Rock County

RSS

— The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is involved in a highway safety project on the interstate system in the state.

Motorists may notice workers in the median of the various highways around the state putting up a cable style barrier.

Rick Marz, Roadway Operations Engineer for the DOT, says the initiative is meant to keep vehicle from striking on-coming traffic. He says the barriers are strong enough to handle most vehicles on the interstate, including semis.

The barriers are currently being installed in Rock and Dane Counties. The project should be completed within the next two months.
