Rock Co Humane Society has fewer animals than expected
The Rock County Humane Society is experiencing a change: empty space in its kennels.
Director Angela Rhodes says it's a misconception that people abandon their pets during hard times. She says most people will do what they can to keep their companion. The shelter provides assistance to pet owners who can't afford to care for their pets. She says since the shelter has space, she took in 11 dogs from Milwaukee County last week, half of which have been adopted here. The Humane Society has about 100 fewer cats this fiscal year compared to last, but they still have what Rhodes calls a "ridiculous" number of cats waiting to be adopted.

On an annual basis, humane societies in Wisconsin kill (they call it "putting down") more animals than Wisconsin hunters. Is that humane? They need to change their name.

The ASPCA/police need to do a search of the "humane" society's property. Enough said.
