It was major celebration time Friday night for Orfordville Parkview High School’s football program.

The host Vikings won a 28-27 thriller in overtime, giving Parkview its first victory over Evansville in more than three decades—dating back a 14-0 win in the pre-Rock Valley season of 1976.

While the Vikings (3-1) evened their record at 1-1 in the Rock Valley South, the Blue Devils (1-3) fell to 0-2 in the North.

Parkview scored first in the overtime on a Nick Melton 7-yard run and a Cole Isenberger extra point to take a 28-21 lead. T.J. Kyser made a diving catch of Melton pass at the 7-yard line on third down to key the drive.

Evansville bounced back with Tom Ejugstad scoring on 7-yard run after Dylan Ericson and quarterback Adam Stamm hooked up on an 18-yard pass play. However, the Blue Devils’ extra-point attempt to tie went wide right, and Parkview’s victory drought against Evansville was over.

Parkview tied it 21-21 in regulation on a 13-yard pass from Melton to Kyser to complete a 60-yard drive with more than seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Melton threw for 158 yards, completing 13 of 20 passes, including one TD pass. Melton also gained 90 yards on 18 carries. Kyser caught six passes for 111 yards.

Stamm threw for 236 yards, completing 13 of 29 passes, including touchdown throws of 18, 27 and 32 yards to James May. May caught four passes for 84 yards, while Casey Moseley had six catches for 117 yards.
