— The Janesville Jets had no power on power plays Friday afternoon in a 4-2 loss to the Alexandria Blizzard at the NAHL Showcase Tournament at Blaine, Minn.

The Jets failed to convert on any of their nine power play opportunities as they lost for the second straight day at the four-day event.

Billy Mulligan got the Jets on the board in the first minute with his third goal of the season. Alexandria’s Sean Kenny got the equalizer midway through the period. Tommy Westmark, who would score the game-winner in the first minute of the third period, gave Alexandria a 2-1 lead midway through the second period.

Janesville’s Ross Mauermann tied it at 2-2 when he scored on a penalty shot late in the second period.

After Westmark’s game-winning goal, Alexandria’s Dylan Wizner added an insurance goal for the Blizzard.

Janesville backup goaltender Eric Swanick started his first game of the season. He made 29 saves in the loss.

Janesville (2-3) closes out the showcase today with a 3:30 p.m. game against Wichita Falls. Today’s game is the Jets’ sixth regular-season game in eight days. After today, the Jets will be idle until Oct. 2-4 when they travel to Springfield, Ill., for a three-game weekend series against the Jr. Blues.
