The downtown Janesville area gets some special treatment during "Downtown Pride Day" on Friday.

Event coordinator, Renee Dommershausen, says about 50 people signed up to do various odd jobs during the day. The work included slight work like sweeping, painting and cleaning, to more difficult jobs like removing a stump from the ground so city workers could plant a tree. Some of the work was committed to downtown parks and other areas damaged by last year's flooding.

There was a wide range of volunteers including local bank officials, downtown business owners, volunteers from the Rock County Republican party and members of the Rock County jail "recap" program.
