Thanks to continued strong doubles play, Janesville Craig’s girls tennis team cruised past Madison East here Tuesday at Palmer Park.

The Cougars won all three doubles matches en route to a 5-2 win that lifted Craig High to 4-3 in Big Eight duals.

Craig’s No. 1 doubles team of Hailey Smith and Taylor Storbakken improved to 13-0. Sierra Sroda and Mina Liza Shahlapour are 12-0 at No. 3, and Olivia Ehlers and Emily Reshower are 10-3 at No. 2 to give Cougar doubles teams a 35-3 combined record.

“I’m obviously very pleased with how our doubles teams are playing,” Craig coach Camilla Owen said. “But tonight, I was really happy with the way everyone played. Beating East by that score is good.

“We continue to improve as a team, and that’s the most important thing.”

Craig’s Maggie Bolton ran her record to 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while Sarah Gray also registered a win for the Cougars.
