WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the United Way kickoff breakfast in Janesville

RSS

— The 2009 North Rock County United Way Campaign gets off the ground with a breakfast at Kandu Industries in Janesville Wednesday morning.

Co-Chairs, John Pearse and Phoebe Tobias, accepted a check from the Pacesetter committee for $202,000. That represents 15% of this year's goal of $1,350,000.

Volunteers heard a testimonial from former drug addict, David Presendofer. He was helped back to his feet through a program at the Janesville Salvation Army, which is supported by the United Way.

Pearse says they'll be counting on smaller donations from a larger number of people to reach this year's goal. He says they still have the $201,000 raised from last year's Tahoe raffle in the bank. Pearse says it will be used to fill any gaps in the campaign.
