Beloit College defeats Carroll in first home game

The home debut was a successful for Beloit College’s football team Saturday night.

The Buccaneers scored 18 unanswered points to pull away from Carroll University for a 25-7 victory in a Midwest Conference opener in front of 1,200 fans at Strong Stadium.

With the game tied at 7-7 in the first quarter, the Bucs took the lead for good with 7:40 left in the half on the second of Terence Steward’s three touchdowns. Steward, who had 105 yards rushing, scored on runs of 2, 3 and 3 yards.

Edgerton’s Derek Carrier had seven receptions for 127 yards, while Milton’s Andrew Christensen had five catches for 50 yards.

Beloit (2-0) hits the road the next two weeks, starting with a conference game at Monmouth College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
