The story tells us where the stabber lives, but fails to tell us where the fight actually took place. if it was in my neighborhood, I'd like to know.
Oh, and just to be fair couldn't we get the stabee's address too? Slim reporting...sheesh

Give the cops credit for knowing a lot more about the incident than is reported here. Also, give the DA a chance to look at the reports and issue an actual, formal charge.

isnt intent to kill just a stiffer charge vs killed by stabbing? Seems like he should get an attempted murder to me. If you keep stabbing somebody over and over a smart person may think "oh he could bleed to death" I guess you would have to ask the criminal "now think hard did you want to kill him or just stab him a lot and make it hurt a lot. Or didnt you know stabbing a lot may kill somebody? " Oh so you didnt know you might kill him okay slap on wrist for you! We will just say battery then.

I would have to fire them both. Yes curtaincall I am not for the victim again BUT who started it? We only know who ended it. Maybe the guy that ended it was defending himself? We may never know.

Actually, not all charges of homicide/murder require proof of intent to kill.

However, an ATTEMPT to do so would require such proof.

carlitosway, any charge of murder requires proving an intent to kill. It is not an all-purpose charge for any lurid result of a fight.

substantial battery ? repeatedly stab someone and this is all he gets charged with "come on" that is attempted murder IMO.
