Mount Horeb/Barneveld’s quick start couldn’t stop Milton High’s football team Friday night.
The visiting Vikings (1-2) jumped to 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Red Hawks (2-1) rallied for a 21-14 nonconference victory.
Milton was within 14-9 by halftime and grabbed a 15-14 lead on James Miller’s 14-yard touchdown run with 3:29 left in the third quarter. Patrick Severance added the finishing touch by scoring on a 2-yard run with 10:38 left in the game.
Junior quarterback Nate Hammon started Milton’s comeback with a 2-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter. Kyle Martinelli finished the half with a 34-yard field goal that reduced the Red Hawks’ deficit to five points with 45 seconds left.
Alec Vicenzi had 19 carries for 109 yards to lead Milton’s 158-yard ground game. Hammon threw for 226 yards on a 13-for-31 effort that included Nick Meyers’ six receptions for 109 yards as the Red Hawks offset Mount Horeb/Barneveld’s 259-yard air attack.

n Oregon 42, Monroe 27—Oregon quarterback Josh Graber led his team past the visiting Cheesemakers in a Badger South opener.
Graber rushed nine times for 149 yards, including scoring runs of 49 and 73 yards, and threw for 210 more yards to lead the unbeaten Panthers to their third victory.
Graber completed a 20-yard scoring pass to Alex McCauley and a 2-yard pass to Matt Marszelak.
Cory Kundert threw two scoring passes for the Cheesemakers (0-3).

Ryan Roberts led the Silver Eagles’ rushing attack with 226 yards on 15 carries. Roberts had scoring runs of 81 and 6 yards.
Beau Goff added 93 yards on 18 carries, including a 10-yard scoring run. He added five extra-point kicks.
C.J. Zimmerman led Fort Atkinson with 53 yards on 14 carries.

Balczewski added a 74-yard scoring run as the Crusaders rushed for 323 yards. Balczewski ran for 125 yards on eight carries and threw for 164 more.
Stoughton’s only score came on a Jacob Roso’s 50-yard punt return.
