Craig swimmers top La Follette; West downs Parker

Janesville Craig High School topped visiting Madison La Follette, 91-79, to remain undefeated in Big Eight Conference girls swimming Friday at Craig.


“It was an excellent meet for us,” said coach Brian Kitzman as Craig improved to 2-0-1 in league duals. “We worked the girls really hard this week and they were pretty tired, and yet they came out and swam some great times.’’


Hailey Schneider won the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 4.99 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:28.35 for Craig. Teammate Chole Gansen won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.17, while Betsy Collins won the 100 butterfly in 1:06.64.


The Cougars will participate in the Wauwatosa East Invitational at 12:30 p.m. today.

Parker falls to West


Janesville Parker’s girls swim team had a rough outing at Madison West, falling 137-33 in a Big Eight dual.


The Vikings also fell to 1-2 in the conference.


Megan Olin was second in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.66, while teammate Erin Johnson took third in the 100 butterfly in 1:09.46 for Parker’s best finishes.


Parker will compete in the Elkhorn Invitational today.
