With a combined 29-hour bus trip behind it, the UW-Whitewater football team goes after its second win of the season at home Saturday.

The Warhawks traveled to North Dakota last Saturday and defeated Dickinson State, 38-3, in an impressive opener.

They take on Midland Lutheran (Neb.) on Saturday in a nonconference home opener. Kickoff is set for noon.

The Warhawks go into the home opener behind several superb individual efforts.

Jeff Donovan earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference offensive Athlete of the Week after going 23 of 32 for 349 yards and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver Aaron Rusch was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after catching eight passes for 123 yards and one touchdown.

Linebacker Kyle Supianoski joined Rusch on the D3football.com Team of the Week. He led the defensive effort with eight tackles, as the Warhawks held Dickinson State to 109 yards of total offense.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams. Midland Lutheran, an NAIA member school, defeated Concordia University, 12-10, in its opener.

Khalid Waters, who ran 24 times for 143 yards and a touchdown, led the Warriors in their opening victory.

The Warhawks will be off next week and then will host the University of Puget Sound in their final nonconference game Sept. 26.
