It was a tough time for the Janesville Craig and Janesville Parker in Big Eight Conference girls volleyball Thursday night.

Parker High won the first game against host Madison West, but the Regents rallied to win the last three games to earn the victory.

Craig lost three straight games to visiting Madison La Follette.

Despite losing away from home, Parker coach Dave Lehmann was pleased with his team’s play.

“We really played well the entire night, I thought, but West is just a really good team that was a little better than us,” Lehmann said. “But we’re a pretty young team, and we continue to improve.

“I really liked the way we hustled all four games, and we did a good job for the most part of keeping balls in play.”

Paige Demos led the Vikings with 15 kills, and Nicole Popovich had nine digs.

Parker (1-2 in the Big Eight) hosts a six-team invitational Saturday that includes Kettle Moraine, Deerfield, Orfordville Parkview, Milton and Jefferson.

The Lancers coasted to a 25-9 win in Game 1 and never let up.

“We just have to do a better job of coming out ready to play right away,” Craig coach Blake Budrow said. “We can’t keep falling behind early and expect to come back.

“The thing that is really hurting us right now is a lack of consistency. We have way too many unforced errors.”

Craig will be at the Elkhorn Invitational on Saturday.
