Reedsburg cruises past Fort Atkinson

Cassidy Denman caught scoring passes of 21 and 34 yards—the only two passes completed by Chad Mazur—as Reedsburg overwhelmed Fort Atkinson, 40-2, in nonconference high school football action Friday night.

Reedsburg, last year’s WIAA Division 3 state runner-up, rolled to a 33-0 halftime lead as the Beavers evened their record at 1-1 and dropped the Blackhawks to 0-2.

Andy Huber led the Beavers with 82 yards rushing on eight carries.

Edgewood 35, Portage 6—Mike Eshun caught three touchdowns and ran for a fourth as Madison Edgewood (1-1) routed the Warriors (0-2) in a nonconference game.

Eshun scored on passes of 41, 31 and 43 yards from Connor Balczewski. Eshun caught five passes for 117 yards. He also carred 12 times for a team-high 55 yards.

Monona Grove 16, DeForest 10—Ryan Roberts’ 3-yard third-quarter run held up as the Silver Eagles knocked off the Norskies in a nonconference battle of 1-0 teams.

Beau Goff, who got the scoring started with a 31-yard field goal, led Monona Grove with 15 carries for 92 yards.

n Sauk Prairie 36, Monroe 15—The Cheesemakers went down to their second straight nonconference loss under a hail of turnovers.

Monroe lost three of four fumbles and had three passes intercepted for six turnovers.

Sauk Prairie rolled to a 21-8 lead at the half, and scored twice in the fourth quarter on consecutive Monroe turnovers, including Jordan Peters’ 42-yard touchdown pass interception return for the game’s final TD.

Dylan Schwitz gained 100 yards on 19 carries for Monroe.
