Brodhead/Juda, Parkview, Palmyra-Eagle notch nonconference wins

Gavin Garrett was a scoring machine Friday night, rushing for five touchdowns to lead Brodhead/Juda past visiting Cuba City, 41-21, in a nonconference football game.


The Cardinals (2-0) ran for 449 yards, led by Garrett’s 188 in 14 carries. Garrett scored on runs of 2, 14, 42, 30 and 54 yards. His final three scoring runs came in the fourth quarter, when Brodhead/Juda pulled away from a 21-14 lead.


Brayden Fritch added a 59-yard touchdown run, which opened the scoring.


Tanner Oglesby threw for all three Cuba City scores as the Cubans fell to 0-2.

Iowa-Grant 63, Clinton 13—Kyle Riemenapp returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and Iowa-Grant cruised past visiting Clinton in a nonconference game.


Iowa-Grant rushed for 300 yards, led by Marcus Boothe’s 175 yards on 12 carries. Boothe scored on runs of 28, 42, 39 and 35 yards.


Clinton’s Adam Knueppel returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.

Palmyra-Eagle 27, Milwaukee Custer 6—Four Panthers scored as Palmyra-Eagle (1-1) posted the game’s first 27 points en route to a nonconference victory at Milwaukee.


The Panthers got started with a 50-yard hookup from Kevin McGivern to Luke Berglund. Casey Lagen, Taylor Dane and Ryan Rapacz all run for scores. Rapacz led the Panthers with 13 carries for 88 yards.


Marcus Love, who broke loose for Custer’s only score, led all runners with 11 carries for 111 yards.

A.J. Bernstein scored Turner’s only touchdown on a 4-yard run. Berstein finished with 114 yards on 19 carries. New Glarus-Monticello’s Tyler Dorn gained 137 yards on 19 carries.
