Janesville Craig’s girls had a single goal when they got off the bus to complete their rain-interrupted tennis match at Sun Prairie on Wednesday: win a singles match.

The Cougars had won the three doubles matches before rain halted the Aug. 25 match. No. 3 singles player Maggie Bolton took care of matters and the Cougars went on to a 6-1 victory.

“Maggie was up 3-2 in the second set, and she was up 5-2 about seven minutes after we got back started,” Craig coach Camilla Owen said. “So when we knew she had won her match, everyone kind of relaxed and played.”

No. 1 singles player Niki Westenberger and No. 2 singles player Kelly Collins also added victories for the Cougars, who evened their Big Eight mark at 1-1 going into today’s match at Madison Memorial.

No. 1 doubles team Hailey Smith and Taylor Storbakken and No. 3 doubles team Ciarra Sroda and Mina Liza Shahlapour each improved to 9-0 with victories.
