WCLO's Steve Benton reports eight to ten state workers will take the first of eight furlough days Friday, but the Rock County Job Center will remain open.

— The first of eight mandated furlough days for Wisconsin state workers in 2009 is Friday. Many state offices, including drivers exam stations, will be closed.

While state employees at the Rock County Job Center will not be at work Friday, the office will remain open. Job Center Executive Director, Bob Borremans, says other employees at the Job Center, including some Rock County workers, will try to fill in the gaps. He says they'll try to make it as close to "business as usual" as possible.

Borremans says the state hasn't announced the other furlough days yet, but an attempt will be made to keep the Job Center open on those days as well.
