Janesville Parker and Craig tennis take losses

Janesville Parker High School’s undefeated season came tumbling down with a 7-0 loss to Madison West in Big Eight Conference tennis Tuesday.

Parker fell to 2-1 in the Big Eight and 7-1 overall. West won its opening conference match.

“We ran into a very good team,” Parker coach Justin Long said. “West has always been in the top three in the conference, but to our girls’ credit, we never gave up and played them hard.’’

The Vikings host Verona on Thursday.

WEST 7, PARKER 0

Singles—Rachel Margolies (MW) def. Emily Sodemann, 6-0, 6-0. Samantha Nagin (MW) def. Lauren Brooks, 6-1, 6-2, Lily Simonson (MW) def. Sarah Sodemann, 6-2, 6-3. Nora Feldman (MW) def. Terri Harmata, 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles—Allie Dyer-Jenni Mohoney (MW) def Maddie Thiesen-Kristin Zeilinger, 6-0,6-3; Sarah Kuhn-Lauren Rosenstock def. Kim Amundson-Danielle Boyd, 6-2, 6-3. Annelies Taylor-Leah Harari (MW) def. Ellary Nemetz-hailey Fenrick, 6-2, 6-3.

n La Follette 4, Craig 3—Janesville Craig could not earn a singles win and fell to visiting Madison La Follette in a Big Eight Conference match.

The Cougars swept all three doubles matches.

“We’ll figure it out,” Craig coach Camilla Owen said of her singles players.

Hailey Smith and Taylor Storbakken went to 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, as did Ciarra Sroda and Mina Liza Shahlapour at No. 3 doubles.

The No. 2 Craig doubles team of Olivia Ehlers and Emily Reshower improved to 6-1.

The Cougars finish up a match at Sun Prairie today that was suspended due to rain. The Cougars are at Madison Memorial on Thursday.

LA FOLLETTE 4, CRAIG 3

Singles—Renee Nelson (LF) def. Niki Westenberger, 6-4, 6-1; Rebecca Mixtaki (LF) def. Kelly Collins, 6-3, 6-2; Hannah Martin (LF) def. Maggie Bolton, 6-2, 6-2; Clare Gloede (LF) def. Laudan Rezai, 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles—Hailey Smith-Taylor Storbakken (JC) def. Monica Ripp-Anna Burant, 6-0, 6-3; Olivia Ehlers-Emily Reshower (JC) def. Anna Brunner-Madeline Erce, 6-1, 7-5; Ciarra Sroda-Mina Liza Shahlapour (JC) def. Laurel Szalkowski-Emilee Verhage, 6-0, 6-1.
