Middleton edges Parker golfers; Craig 3rd

JANESVILLE Janesville Parker High School got edged out Monday in the battle for the top spot in Big Eight Conference girls golf.
Middleton nipped the Vikings, 336-338, in a Big Eight triangular that at Riverside Golf Course. Janesville Craig, the host team, finished third with a 390.
The sweep of Parker and Craig lifted Middleton to
6-0 in the Big Eight. Parker slipped to 5-1, and Craig fell to 3-3.
Middleton’s Monica Ederlin carded a 5-over-par 76 for medalist honors. Teammate Allison Van Heuklom fired a 78.
“They are the best 1-2 combination in the league,” Craig coach Dominic Weigel said. “But there are six to 10 girls who can shoot in the 70s in our league.’’
Parker’s Katy Brossard posted an 82, while teammate Molly Rozeboom followed with an 83. Lindsey Beals fired an 89 for Craig’s low round.
“Katie and Molly played steady rounds,’’ Parker coach John Zimmerman said of the Vikings’ performance. “Taylor Utzig, a sophomore, also played well (in shooting a 91).’’
