— Administrator Joe Salitros will work in the city of Delavan for one more year.

In a special meeting Tuesday night, the city council voted 4-2 to amend Salitros' contract and extend it for one year.

Salitros' contract was set to expire in January when he planned to retire. Salitros has said he would be willing to keep working after that time.

Council members Dave Kilkenny and John Finley have pushed for Salitros' retirement, citing performance issues. The two placed an item on a July agenda seeking a search for a new administrator. The motion was tabled.

On Oct. 14, an amendment was on the table to extend the contract. Kilkenny and Finley at the time tried to immediately vote down the amendment.

After a debate, council members agreed to meet in closed session to talk about Salitros' performance history before voting on the amendment.

Kilkenny and Finley on Tuesday night voted against amending the contract.

Salitros has been the city's administrator since January 2006. His current contract started in July.
