Janesville could have a new ice arena on the city's south side.

City manager Eric Levitt says that location is the most desirable of three possibilities. The three options include the Youth Sports Complex, the south side and building an addition at the current site. Levitt says the current site would work well for a new central fire station, and the city could then avoid purchasing private property for the fire station. The south side location would also provide a possible source of revenue, if Beloit groups wanted to form a partnership to use the ice in Janesville.

The city council is scheduled to discuss funding of the ice arena, but Levitt says he anticipates the location will also be discussed.
