— If you love Italian food and all its trimmings, you won’t want to miss the second annual Scott Lentz memorial all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner.

You can get your fill of pasta, salad, bread sticks and a beverage Nov. 6. You’ll also get to help boost a special fund that pays for economically disadvantaged youth to attend Cub Scout camp in addition to receiving other Scout assistance.

The event, held for the first time in 2008, is in memory of Scott Lentz, a local teen who was killed in January 2007 along with his mother, Danyetta, and sister, Nicole, in their Janesville mobile home.

Scott attended camp three consecutive years through the Glacier’s Edge Council’s special fund, said Andrew Olsen, director of the council’s Indian Trails District.

Proceeds from last year’s dinner totaled $3,600 and helped 150 youth attend camp, receive Cub Scout rank books and uniforms, Olsen said.

More youth could be served if residents of the community think as big as Olsen, who hopes this year’s event will raise $10,000.

“Looking ahead, we’d like to help 300 (youth). The potential is limitless. There’s a huge need out there,’’ he said.

Kerry Knute, Bill Goepfert and others are helping Olsen organize the dinner.

“This dinner is being held to commemorate the good that the Scouting program provided to Scott and to ‘keep the dream alive,’’’ Olsen said.

"The headstone of the Lentz family of Janesville in Oakhill cemetary. The trio was brutally murdered 6 months ago and no charges have been filed in the case"

do you mean 2 years and 10 months ago?

Gazette staff: There appear to be some problems with the caption under the picture of the Lentz stone. The info is not correct and I believe cemetery is spelled wrong.
