A Janesville man faces drug charges after police found him trying to flush about $500 worth of THC down a toilet.

Janesville police officials say 21-year-old Alex Murphy faces a charge of possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. 19-year-old Rafael Murphy was also arrested on a probation hold during Friday night's execution of a search warrant at 58 S. Huron Drive. The warrant resulted in the seizure of 104.2 grams of THC, a large scale and packaging materials.

Police had been investigating the sale of THC from this address.

The law defines the controlled substance thus:
961.14(4)(t)
(t) Tetrahydrocannabinols, commonly known as "THC", in any form including tetrahydrocannabinols contained in marijuana, obtained from marijuana or chemically synthesized;
.
While it would be accurate to say "trying to flush the marijuana" when discussing the charges it should be THC.

Sooo, the author and the Gazette editor must certainly realize that THC is the name of one of the chemicals in Marijuana and not the narcotic itself right? Granted it is the chemical that causes the "high" but it's not interchangeable with the name of the actual plant.
