McFarland and Jefferson High remained neck-and-neck in the Rock Valley North football standings.


Alec Carr rushed for 76 yards on 22 carries and caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Wedel to help McFarland defeat Brodhead/Juda, 24-8, at Brodhead on Friday night.


McFarland remained tied with Jefferson for the North lead with 5-1 records and one round of games to go.


Wedel added a 5-yard touchdown run and a 26-yard field goal to help the Spartans take a 17-0 halftime lead.


Brodhead/Juda’s lone TD came in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard run by Ethan Douglas, who finished with 85 yards on 17 carries.


The Cardinals’ loss helped Big Foot clinch the Rock Valley South title. However, Brodhead/Juda (6-2, 4-2) has clinched its 18th straight playoff berth.

Jefferson 54, Turner 6—Seven Jefferson players scored in the first half as the Eagles had no trouble putting away visiting Beloit Turner.


The Eagles rushed for 517 yards to stay in a first-place tie with McFarland in the Rock Valley North.


Nat Lipperer rushed for 165 yards on eight carries, including a 76-yard scoring run.


Pete Linse added 124 yards on five carries, including a 36-yard TD run. Linse went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season.

Whitewater 28, Parkview 12—Loussaint Minett blocked a punt for a safety, returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown and threw a 69-yard option pass for another touchdown to help Whitewater (5-3, 4-2) beat visiting Parkview (5-3, 3-3) in a Rock Valley crossover game at Perkins Stadium.


Nick Romani rushed 20 times for 180 yards, including scoring runs of 28 and 26 yards as the Whippets clinched a WIAA playoff berth and denied Parkview the opportunity to do the same.


Parkview’s T.J. Tyser caught seven passes for 96 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown from Kyle Woodworth.

With its 27th straight regular-season victory, Big Foot clinched the Rock Valley South championship and a fourth straight title overall.


Michael Walker gained 127 yards on 26 carries, including three touchdowns to propel Big Foot.

Evansville 20, Palmyra-Eagle 0—Evansville (3-5, 2-4) used three long touchdown drives in the first half to turn back playoff-bound Palmyra-Eagle (5-3, 4-2) in a Rock Valley crossover game.


After the visiting Panthers drove from their 38-yard line to the Evansville 1 on their first possession, the Blue Devils took over and knocked Palmyra-Eagle out of Rock South title contention.


Tom Gjudstad’s 55-yard touchdown run with 2:57 left in the first quarter capped a 71-yard drive that put Evansville ahead for good. Adam Stamm threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Casey Moseley, completing a 77-yard drive with 5:57 left in the second quarter, and James May scored on a 56-yard pass from Stamm with 1:12 remaining on the half to end a 68-yard drive.


Gjudstad finished 10 rushing attempts for 80 yards to lead Evansville. May caught two passes for 65 yards.

Clinton 23, East Troy 22—The Trojans (1-7, 0-6) missed a game-tying extra point to give the Cougars (1-7, 1-5) a victory in the battle of two winless Rock Valley teams.


Corey Zaeske scored on a 36-yard run with 6:33 to play in the fourth quarter, but the Trojans missed the point after kick to trail 23-22.


Clinton’s Gavin North and quarterback Aaron Roth combined on a 32-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. Roth completed 18 of 37 passes for 263 yards and two interceptions.


Zaeske finished with 133 yards on 19 carries, including an 84-yard kickoff return in the second quarter.
