WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the installation of the first of three outdoor murals depicting Janesville's history

RSS

— The first of three murals, depicting the history of Janesville, is being installed this week.

The framework for the 25 ft X 35 ft piece of art was being installed Wednesday, and the vinyl will be hung Thursday according to Curt Ennenga of Professional Graphics of Rockford.

Ennenga says the process involves the artist drawing or painting the original. From that point on, his company takes over. He says they photograph the original piece, enhance the color, and then print it on 13 oz vinyl. The vinyl is then stretched over the frame. Ennenga says the finished product looks like it's been painted on the side of the building.

The second mural is scheduled to be installed on the side of the Gazette building next week. All three of the murals are part of Janesville's 2009 Heart of the City Outdoor Art Campaign.
