Man injured in farm accident

AVON TOWNSHIP — A 77-year-old man was listed in critical condition Monday night at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a farm accident.

Robert E. Alich of 8418 S. Nelson Road had driven a skid steer up a dirt ramp and was crossing a wooden overpass from the ramp to a haymow when the wood gave way, said Sgt. Jason Harding of the Rock County Sheriff's Department.

The skid steer fell 15 feet at about 2:45 p.m. Monday. The REACT medical helicopter took Alich to the Rockford hospital.

Harding said Alich was conscious and alert on the scene and suffered "non-incapacitating injuries."

Units from Orfordville and Brodhead also responded to the scene.
