Janesville School health officials watch for signs of the flu

With the flu closing another school district in Wisconsin, Manager of Health and Safety for Janesville Schools, Mat Haegar is watching the absentee rate closely.

This week, River Valley Schools in Spring Green closed, and last week schools in Wisconsin Dells closed, as absentee rates topped one-third of the student populations. Haegar says this type of flu outbreak may not be inevitable for Janesville, but it is possible.

For now, the absentee rate in Janesville Schools is at a seasonal norm of under 10%.
