Whitewater High School celebrated its homecoming with a 48-28 victory over Edgerton in Rock Valley North football Friday night.

The victory lifted the Whippets (4-3) to 3-2 in the Rock North, while Edgerton (4-3) fels to 2-3 and out of a third-place tie with the Whippets.

Nick Romani led Whitewater’s charge, gaining 159 yards on 25 carries, including touchdown runs of 25, 63 and 15 yards.

Romani’s 25-yard TD run gave Whitewater a 7-0 lead, but Edgerton’s Adam Gregory returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. Edgerton missed the extra point to trail 7-6, and that was the closest the Tide would get to the lead.

Whitewater scored three times in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
