The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded $60,000 to the Rock County Sheriff's Office to reimburse some of the costs of incarcerating undocumented criminal aliens.
Jail Administrator, Sheriff's Commander Tom Gehl, says the State Criminal Alien Assistance program is intended to enhance public safety. Gehl says this year's award is the highest ever.
Rock county has received more than $200,000 over the last five years.
