WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on efforts to curb alcohol abuse on campus

RSS

Alcohol abuse is nothing new on a college campus, but UW-Whitewater officials are working to change the trend.

Substance Abuse Counselor Montine Pauers is spearheading a number of events as part of National Colegiate Alcohol Awareness Week. Monday night Thomas Farley, brother of the late comedian Chris Farley will speak as part of a program to open a dialogue with students. Tuesday a former UW-Whitewater professor will present a video chronicling his wife's battle with alcoholism. Wednesday a root beer party, along with simulated sobriety testing is planned.

Pauers hopes the activities help students make better and more informed decisions about alcohol use.
