Springfield gives Jets the blues

— The Janesville Jets saw too much of the Springfield Blues in a 9-3 loss in North American Hockey League play here Friday night.

Janesville tied it 2-2 early in the second period, but the Blues scored three times for a 5-2 lead heading into the final period.


Pat Dalbec, Bill Mulligan and Cam Severson each scored the Jets’ goals. The Jets had 29 shots on goal to the Blues’ 27, but went 0-for-4 on power plays, while Springfield went 1-for-8.


Dalbec scored an unassisted goal at 8:55 of the first period to cut the deficit to 2-1. Mulligan tied it 2-2 at 7:59 of the second period with assists from Wes Hawkins and Dalbec. The Blues scored the next three goals before Severson scored 51 seconds into the third period to cut the deficit to 5-3.


Janesville, members of the North Division, fell to 2-5. Springfield is 4-2-1 in the South Division.
