UW-Rock is setting itself up to earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Wisconsin Collegiate College soccer tournament.

The Rattlers improved to 4-0-1 in the WCC with a 1-0 victory at UW-Waukesha on Thursday.

Beloit Turner High graduate Matt Santos rifled home a pass from Mike Bier with just two minutes to go in regulation to give the Rattlers the important win.

UW-Rock needs to win its final two regular-season games to tie UW-Fox Valley for the WCC title. To earn the tiebreaker, the Rattlers will have to win both games and allow just one goal. UW-Fox Valley allowed six goals in going 6-0-1, and the Rattlers have allowed four. Goals allowed is the first tiebreaker.

“We needed this game,” said Rattler coach Grant McNall. “We’re just taking it game by game.”

The Rattlers (6-2-2) play UW-Fond du Lac at home at 1 p.m. Saturday. Their final regular-season game is Wednesday at home against UW-Sheboygan at 4:30 p.m.
