WCLO's Steve Benton reports on a special enforcement effort by the Beloit police department

RSS

— The Beloit police department is participating in a 12 month enforcement effort that targets specific high crash intersections in the city.

Sgt. Mark Franseen says the $20,000 grant allows the department to select several days each month to concentrate on bad drivers that cause accidents.

For the next year, high volume traffic intersections on the three highways passing through the city, Highways 51, 213, and 81, will be monitored. Some of the intersections include Cranston and Milwaukee Roads, Park Avenue and Broad Street, and Pleasant Street and White Avenue.

Franseen says they're always looking for voluntary compliance with traffic laws, but for those who don't, they'll be watching.
