Karel keys UW win

— Alyssa Karel scored 17 points for Wisconsin and the Badgers used a late run to put away Cal State Fullerton,

57-44, Sunday in the World Vision Invitational.

Teah Grant also scored 11 points for Wisconsin (6-1), which led 25-24 at halftime.

Lyndsey Grove led the Titans (3-3) with 16 points.

Karel was 6-of-10 from the field and scored eight points in the final seven minutes. Wisconsin outscored the Titans, 18-6, down the stretch after Fullerton had pulled to within 39-38 with just under nine minutes to play on a three-pointer by Jasmine Scott.

But the Badgers scored the next 10 points to take a 49-38 lead with 4:21 left, and the Titans never got closer than eight points.

Lauren Chow and Scott also each scored 10 points for Fullerton, and Jenna Breite had a game-high 13 rebounds.

State men

-- UW-Green Bay 67, North Dakota 41—At Grand Forks, N.D., Troy Cotton scored 22 points as the Phoenix won easily.

Cotton scored 20 of his points in the first half to help Green Bay (6-2) to a 33-18 lead at the break.

Derek Benter led North Dakota (1-6) with nine points.

Rahmon Fletcher added 19 points for Green Bay. Twelve of those came in the second half as the Phoenix pulled away to beat the Fighting Sioux by 20-plus points for the second straight season.

North Dakota made only 6-of-25 shots after halftime and shot just 30.4 percent for the game.

Green Bay made 10 of 23 3-pointers and outrebounded North Dakota 38-24.
