Scherer repeats as All-American
CLEVELAND St. Norbert senior Jenny Scherer, a Delavan-Darien High School graduate, became an All-American for the second straight year with a 10th-place finish Saturday in the NCAA Division III national cross country meet.
Scherer, who finished seventh in 2008, had a time of 22 minutes, 22 seconds and was only two seconds out of seventh place.
St. Lawrence’s Wendy Pavlus won the 6,000-meter race with a time of 21:28. A total of 279 runners competed.
UW-Eau Claire won the team championship with 171 points, followed by St. Lawrence with 180.
Ben Pearson, a senior from Clinton, ran on the UW-Eau Claire boys team, which finished 16th out of 32 teams in the Blugolds’ first national appearance as a team since 1999. Pearson finished 188th with time of 27:25.7.
