— Shaking off a pair of losses to North Division-leading Traverse City, the Janesville Jets pounded the Motor City Metal Jackets, 4-1, in NAHL junior hockey Friday night at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.

The Jets (11-10-1) got first- period goals from Rui Encarnarcao and Alex Brooks within the first seven minutes for a 2-0 lead.

“We dodged a couple of early bullets,” Jets coach Dane Litke said. “Our first goal was big.’’

The Jets converted on two of four power plays.

“We made two of four (power plays),” Litke said. “On the other side, we were a perfect 7-for-7 on penalty kills.’’

Larkin Jacobson put Janesville ahead 3-0 with an assist from Pat Dalbec at 1:17 of the second period, and Ethan Nauman closed out the Jets’ scoring with an assist from Janesville Parker graduate Ross Mauermann at 18:05 for a 4-0 lead.

The Jets host the Metal Jackets (8-8-4) again at 7 tonight.

“We play Motor City six more times,” Litke said. “It would be good to get some wins and then go into a nice (holiday) break.’’

After tonight’s game, Janesville travels to Motor City for a three-game series that begins Thursday, Dec. 3.
