Kramer’s 26 lead Rattlers

FOND DU LAC — UW-Rock County withstood a late second-half surge to post a 69-66 victory over UW-Fond du Lac in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference men’s baseball Wednesday.

Trailing 38-30 at the half, Fond du Lac cut the deficit to a one point with a minute remaining. UW-Rock rallied down the stretch to corral its third straight victory.

“If we would have made our free throws down the stretch, we would have cruised,” Rattlers coach Scott Lee said.

Corey Kramer, a Beloit Memorial High graduate, finished with a game-high 26 points, including four three-pointers for UW-Rock. Gabe Mitchell, an Edgerton High graduate, added 14 points, and Fred Stewart scored 13 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.

UW-Rock (1-3) travels to West Bend to face UW-Washington at 2 p.m. Saturday.

UW-Rock women fall

UW-Rock County suffered through a tough first half en route to a 47-33 defeat to UW-Fond du Lac in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference women’s basketball.

The Rattlers trailed 27-6 at halftime. UW-Rock bounced back in the second half and outscored Fond du Lac 27-20.

Freshman Ashley Oldenburg, an Orfordville Parkview graduate, scored 16 points, including four three-point baskets, for the Rattlers.

UW-Rock plays in West Bend at UW-Washington on Saturday.
