Rattlers earn first win
The UW-Rock County men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday night.
The Rattlers, behind 51 points combined from Gabe Mitchell and Kasey Kramer, beat host UW-Baraboo County, 78-58, in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference game.
Rock County trailed by two at halftime but outscored Baraboo 49-31 in the second half.
"Our defense in the second half was the difference in the game," Rock County coach Scott Lee said. "We picked up the tempo offensively while maintaining good pressure on the defensive end.
"And our guards, Gabe and Kasey, really took over. It's always nice to get that first win under your belt."
Mitchell, an Edgerton High graduate, led the Rattlers with 26. Kramer chipped in 25.
The Rattlers will open the home-portion of their schedule at 7 p.m. Monday against UW-Manitowoc.
