WCLO's Steve Benton reports the search for the next director of Visit Beloit is coming to an end

RSS

— If everything goes as planned, a new executive director for Visit Beloit will be named some time next week.

The effort to find a replacement for current director, Martha Mitchell, began in late summer after she told Visit Beloit board of directors, President Tim McKearn, she planned to retired by the end of the year.

The job was posted in October and 50 people responded. The search committee spent the next couple of months shaving that down to three finalists.

McKearn says having that many people respond is a tribute to Beloit and the Visit Beloit organization. McKearn says the search committee has a little more work to do before making the final decision.

The remaining candidates are, Christina Slaback, Director of the Milton Area Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Jerry Huffman, Vice President of Marketing for the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and Debra Frederiksen, Manager of Carillion Club, a gated community for older, active adults in Naperville, Illinois

I'm sorry, but why would anyone want to visit Beloit?
