— Blackhawk Community Credit Union recently presented United Way of North Rock County with $25,000.

The credit union is a Pacesetter Company for the United Way campaign.

"Our employees contributed $16,700, and BHCCU contributed the rest for our total of $25,000," said Wendy Cuevas, vice president of human resources. "This is a $1,200 increase over last year and in a year where almost everyone has been touched by the economic downturn here in our communities.

"We are very proud of our employees; they have once again dug deeply into their pockets to support United Way, who does so much for our communities and the people they serve."

The credit union held an employee raffle for all who contributed and for those who were new contributors, those who increased their contribution by 10 percent, and anyone who contributed at the leadership level of $500 or more.

United Way of North Rock County provides health and human service programs for citizens of north Rock County through annual fund raising and allocation of funds to programs of independent agencies.

Blackhawk Community Credit Union is a $300 million credit union with more than 32,000 members. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, goes to school or owns property in Dane, Green, Jefferson Rock or Walworth counties. Branches are located in Janesville, Edgerton and Delavan.
