Jets rally for victory over Marquette
The Janesville Jets topped the Marquette Rangers, 5-3, in a North American Hockey League game Saturday night at Marquette, Mich.
With the victory, the Jets took the four-game, home-and-home series, 3 games to 1. Janesville improves to 10-9 in the NAHL North Division.
Gehrett Sargis gave the Jets the lead for good with a goal at 19 minutes in the second period to put Janesville ahead, 4-3.
Sargis and Derek Jacobson each scored two goals for Janesville, while Janesville Parker graduate Ross Mauermann had an assist on Jacobson’s second goal to tie the game 3-3 in the second period.
Marquette gained a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Janesville bounced back with goals from Jacobson and Sargis to tie it, 2-2. Marquette scored at 18:01 of the first period to take a 3-2 lead.
Janesville goalkeeper Matt Wichorek made 22 saves, while Marquette’s Lukas Hafner had 39.
